"Great world events don’t occur by happenstance." – Joseph G. Helmich
On a beautiful, hot summer day in 1982, I came face-to-face with my new client in federal prison, inmate Joseph George Helmich – convicted Soviet Spy.
Helmich was a warrant officer in the U.S. Army with a specialty in cryptography. He received, transmitted and stored top-secret military intelligence with his high-level security clearance. He said a CIA handler groomed him to deliver that top-secret information to the Soviets. Helmich then found out his actions were a significant piece of a much larger puzzle that linked to the coup d’etat of the President of the United States. This book should relieve all of us of the notion that the assassination of President John F. Kennedy was an unorchestrated act by a lone-wolf gunman."Great world events don't occur by happenstance," Helmich told me during our interview. He also told me that "Coincidence is the word we use when we can't see the levers and pulleys."
To fully resolve the Kennedy Assassination riddle, one must ask cynical questions: Who profited from Kennedy's assassination? Who benefited from the endless Viet Nam War that followed? Who benefited from the massive investment of blood and treasure?
The early 1960s were a time of absolute national confidence. Young men in America were filled with youth, hope and vigor. We felt fully able to take on all comers at any cost. That invincibility was shaken when Kennedy was shot. My generation grew up while assassinations of JFK, RFK and MLK Jr., the Viet Nam War and anti-war protests swirled around us.
Now, more than four decades after my meeting with Helmich, I'm ready to deliver on my promise to my client and share his untold story with the world.
Early praise for "Interview With A Spy"
"The book, "Interview with a Spy" is a dramatic and definitive look inside a Compartmentalized "TS/SCI" program ran by the CIA and the Political mindset of power-hungry politicians/and high-level agency heads, during the early days of the Kennedy administration. This information presents a patriotic CIA agent being duped, and then being made a "cut-out" to protect the Deep State Players. Joseph Helmich entrusted his manuscript to Attorney Kevin Jursinski, until the legal release of this information could be unsealed, and confirms long sought after answers to questions the government has hidden and obfuscated from the American public for decades. Their respective motivations...Power and Money. The dots are being connected, and the TRUTH shall OUT the Deep State Players. This book provides a fascinating insight into the political power conspiracies, circa 1960's, then (in-light of the Democratic Debacle of the Johnson Administration) and now, observing the continuation of the Clintons/Obamas/Bidens with the financial intertwining's of Billionaires, such as the Gates Foundation and the Soros Anarchists which continue to display the infiltration and corruption to control our governments' institutions. I began my government career with the U.S. Secret Service, in September, 1978, and was assigned to the White House PPD (Presidential Protective Division) upon graduations from both the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center FLETC), located in Brunswick, GA, and the James J. Rowley Training Center (RTC), located in Beltsville, MD. I served on that assignment until April, 1982, shortly after the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan. I was reassigned to RTC as an Instructor, as both a Classroom and Firearms Instructor. Whereupon I taught and participated in several Special Programs, Weapons Platforms, Weapons Testing, Counter Assault Team (CAT) and Counter Sniper (C/S) venues. I also had several collateral duties, e.g. Terminal Ballistics, Sound Level and Range Safety programs, and AOP exercises (Assault on Principal). In April, 1985, I transferred to another agency and worked in Florida and the Caribbean areas fighting the "drug war," and eventually deploying to Iraq in 2003-2004 I retired, late in 2005, with a variety of skill sets. In 2009-2012, I re-deployed at the invitation of a Northern Virginia entity, to Afghanistan and operated in Khost, Afghanistan, as an armed "contractor." I have several friends and family members that are still with various agencies, including the U.S. Secret Service and OGA's and maintain a close relationship with them."
"Interview with a Spy is nothing short of extraordinary. From the introduction to the last page, this book grips you with the kind of authenticity that only lived experience can provide. It discusses suppressed truths, takes a rare insight into the shadows of history, and an emotional testimony of the author who is swept into the chaos of war and secrecy. What sets this book apart is its astonishing revelations surrounding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The author doesn’t rely on recycled theories or vague suggestions, he delivers firsthand accounts and uncensored details that challenge the official narrative in ways that are both compelling and chilling. Equally powerful is the author’s depiction of what it meant to come of age during the Vietnam War. The emotions felt during that time, the confusion, fear, idealism, and betrayal is painted vividly. Through his eyes, we see the conflict of not only the political and mistakes made by the military, but his reflections on how this time shaped his generation. His thoughts show the struggle between feeling proud and patriotic as a kid and later realizing the worlds a lot messier, with hidden agendas and moral gray areas. The information presented is not only brave, but it also demands to be taken seriously. Readers are offered a backstage pass to one of the most debated tragedies in American history, and the perspective is undeniable."
"As much as this book exposes secrets, it also humanizes the experience of being a spy, the loneliness, the ethical dilemmas, and the enduring psychological toll. There’s a rawness to the writing that makes the story feel not just real, but deeply personal. In short, Interview with a Spy is a rare blend of historical revelation and emotional depth. It’s a must-read for anyone interested in espionage, political truth-telling, or simply understanding what it felt like to be young in a time when the world seemed to be unraveling. This book doesn’t just recount history, it helps rewrite it!"
"This is a book everyone needs to read!
As we have seen in recent years, it is becoming more apparent that our government is not forthright with the American people. This book only drives that point home. Not only was President Kennedy the victim that day but so was all of the American people and the world. The direction that this country went after his assassination sent us on a trajectory that was nearly impossible to overcome. We have seen similar situations play out over the past several years with the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. I am so glad this book was written to bring light to what was such a dark time in American History and hopefully to help us stay out of those dark shadows in the future. "
